Cashmere has always been a special product. Despite the increasing number of regions in the world having acquired the Cashmere goat breed, their wool remains a fairly rare one. The original shepherds from Mongolia start realizing that its their future being at stake. This is due to overgrazing, water and falling sales. The painful dilemma is depicted in this seven-minute documentary. We hear three shepherds from the Northern Gobi region (Bayankhongor Province). Their words are proof of their keen understanding of the causes and consequences of the situation. The documentary was commissioned by Humus, Fund for Biodiversity. While hardly gaining any attention on Vimeo attention last week, the film suddenly scores in one day 3,000 views.
